Knappenweg

From Lichtenau Castle, head right over the bridge and follow the road to Grubhof, then continue to the meadow behind it and along the forest path to the Knappen Caves (approx. 45 minutes). The return route can be varied by crossing the stream and following the forest path to the clearing, then uphill along Dürrnbergstraße via Hochrain back to Stuhlfelden.

Bürglhütte

The hut can be reached in about two hours from Stuhlfelden. Part of the route can be driven by car. The Bürglhütte serves as a starting point for the Pinzgau Walking Trail or the ascent of the Gaißstein.

Pinzgau Walking Trail

A beautiful panoramic mountain hike leads from the Bürglhütte, always along the heights of the Kitzbühel Alps, eastward to Schmittenhöhe in Zell am See. The path is easy to walk, but with a duration of 10 to 12 hours, it is long. Good fitness and suitable weather are essential for this experience. Overnight accommodation is available at the Pinzgauer Hütte, and descent options exist via Uttendorf or Piesendorf.

Gaißstein (2,363 m)

The highest grass-covered mountain in Europe, about one to two hours from the Bürglhütte. Offers a beautiful view of the Hohe Tauern!
